When Voting please do not pick your owe player. Please pick who you felt was the best and if it is your owe guy pick the second best guy you like. Also please select a player because of what he did this year not for what has been done in the NHL.

Come on guys, How can some awards have 19 votes while others have only 15. Please make sure you vote is all catagories. Check the 2nd page of the thread.

The one at the top of the page are for keeping history of the awards. Use the polls at the bottom.

Thanks

sorry robert, but for the defensive forward, i have not voted, as i don't see the use of this award, if it is given to scoring, offensive, players that can win also others offensive awards...

for me, a good defensive forward, is a defensive guy you want to put on your pk to match the powerful pp of the other team. a guy that you put when your in a 1 goal lead, with a minute left to the clock, and your in need of the win

i know we can't judge that award as it should be, giving all the credit to the great defensive forwards players that we have in this league.

that's why, i haven't voted for this award... i don't think neither of the players named should be awarded the trophy...

There is a thing called the write in vote If you feel the choices i have made are no good.

Plus i could just let the sim choose the award winners and be done with all these polls.

Even if only 20-25 of us vote, let us vote. The system you set up for voting is excellent. There are just some GMs that won't vote due to real-life reasons, or more likely because they are waiting to be replaced. Normal.

I sooo wanted to vote for Redden but ALASS this new rule ( very good idea though) prohibitated me from voting the best player on the list. Not bad for a defencemen to be close to the top in the points award.

i'm not sayin it's a wast of my time, i been voting, i appreciate to do this. It's just, like i said, this trophy is hard to judge well, because, great defensive play are not put in stats, there's no stats sayin... penalty killed, or scoring chance blow... i know there's some stats that we can look at, +/- and the shot blocked.

i didn't knew that we were allowed to name a player that were not there, i will check at this, and chose a player.

for the rest, i agree with you, guys should look at the second page to vote there too... i guess it might be one of the reason why there are some trophy with more votes then others.

I know, defensive forward, not easy. In my opinion, I dont think it should be as easy as looking at only one stat category to choose a winner ... though I know most GMs won't be willing to spend 15 minutes per award digging for a broader evaluation. Depends how deep you want to look.

Yeah, plus-minus is the main consideration. Other stats that can be minor factors: faceoff winning percentage ... shots blocked ... short-handed goals.

Whatever, as long as we vote. Some GMs that are on the periphery of IHL enthusiasm can be swayed into being more involved (or resign) if they see everyone else voting.

The sim does output awards at the end of the season and it is based on a formula. So for this award I might just let the sim choose it as most GM's don't like the choices i have put up.

Let me respond to this - over two months later - ...

If we left the awards voting to the sim and it's formula for evaluation, I would have no problem with this.

Maybe a couple of the more subjective awards like MVP, and Jack Adams Trophy could still be voted on by the GMs.

However, I would suggest two other details to go with this method:

(1) If you are still going to let the GMs vote on a couple of the awards, let us do our voting BEFORE the sim shows it's selections for the rest of the awards.
(2) Reveal to all GMs exactly what the forumulas are for the sim's evaluation. If you don't know the formula, I will ask Simon T myself.
